image thumbnail Town cleanup day organized in the spring by the Kahls. The house in the background was owned by Steven and Catherine Attla. Dogs were a very important part of the town economy. Huslia's racers, starting with Jimmy Huntington became a real force in Alaska dog racing both in Fairbanks and Anchorage. Fishing for dog food in the summer was a serious business with the families and they moved out of town to fish camp when the fish were running. Title and description courtesy of Mrs. Keller.
