Dora Kamluck

Dora Kamluck

Dora Kamluck was a Sugpiaq Elder from Port Graham, Alaska. She grew up living a subsistence lifestyle based upon fishing, hunting and gathering. As an adult, she worked in the cannery at Port Graham, went to fish camp every summer, and raised a family on traditional foods such as seal and dry fish.

Dick Anahonak and Dora Kamluck, Part 1

Dick Anahonak and Dora Kamluck were interviewed on September 26, 1997 by Ron Stanek and Lydia Robart of the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Subsistence in Port Graham, Alaska. In this first part of a two part interview, Dick talks about his personal and family background, his parents, his subsistence fishing and hunting activities, and the early days of living in Port Graham and Prince William Sound. Dora talks about her personal and family background, her parents, connections between her and Dick's families, working in a cannery, and various subsistence activities.

Dick Anahonak and Dora Kamluck, Part 2

This is the continuation of an interview with Dick Anahonak and Dora Kamluck on September 26 and 27, 1997 by Ron Stanek and Lydia Robart of the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Subsistence in Port Graham, Alaska. In this second part of a two part interview, Dora and Dick talk about traditional subsistence activities in the Port Graham area, including fishing for salmon and herring, gardening, trapping, hunting squirrels, ducks and bears, traveling by kayak, and using fish camps in Port Graham Bay. Dick and Dora speak in a combination of English and their Native Sugt'stun language. No translation or transcription of the audio is available.
