Moses Peter

Moses Peter is Yup'ik from Tuluksak, Alaska. In 2005, Moses translated during an interview with his father, John Peter, for the Tuluksak Project Jukebox, and was instrumental in gathering elders together to discuss traditional places around Tuluksak and the stories associated with them. Moses has contributed to the well-being of his community by serving on the local school board for the Yupiit School District and as a member of the Board of Directors for the Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation (YKHC) based in Bethel, Alaska.

John spoke in Yup'ik and his son, Moses Peter, translated. Marla Statscewich, Sam Peter and Iris Napoka were also present during the interview. In this interview, John talks about the history of Uuravik and Tuluksak, his education, living off the land and following a traditional subsistence lifestyle, fishing and the fish found near Tuluksak, and the effect of beaver on the landscape.
