Fairbanks' use of the Chena and Tanana Rivers for transportation, commerce, tourism, and recreation.
Notes:

Fairbanks’ identity and cultural dimension as a river town has continued for about 100 years. That identity is in jeopardy. Riverboats Discovery II and III now cannot really enter the Tanana. Yukon 800 boat race may have to re-locate its start/finish line. Note in the racing boat image, that the meeting of clear and silty waters at the turn the racers make at the traditional mouth of the Chena River (“wedding of the waters”).
