image thumbnail Immersion Camp: 20. Hiking and Hunting Ta'giuqtigapta Tuapaktusu'gmi Immersion Camp: Iñupiaq Land Use Values and Resources Video: 1 minute and 23 seconds, MPG-1 format. A group of campers went on a long hike, heading out first along the shore and then arcing inland and back towards camp. They carried rifles in case they saw caribou, a shotgun for ducks, and both in event of bears, brown or polar. Damon Richardson and Tim Carlson sight-in one of the rifles. The tundra is brushed by the wind off the ocean. If not for the wind, the campers would have dealt with far more mosquitoes. The photographs show an old bombardier that has been abandoned, a puffball mushroom, and various windblown images of the North Slope landscape. Education Multimedia
