Raven's Story Project Background

  • Interviews for and production of the Raven's Story radio series were by Mike Spindler and/or Clinton Brown, KIYU-AM, Big River Public Broadcasting, Galena, Alaska.
  • Orville Huntington, Subsistence Resource Specialist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service also helped with the interviews.
  • Production assistance was provided by Theresa Bakker of KUAC-FM in Fairbanks, Alaska, and Danny Sparrell and Eric Mack of KIYU, Galena.
  • Biographical assistance was obtained from Orville Huntington, Pat Madros, Jr., and the Hughes School.
  • The Raven Story Project Jukebox was developed by Karen Brewster, Marla Statscewich, Bill Burke, Sara Harriger and Marie Mitchell with the Oral History Program at the University of Alaska Fairbanks under the supervision of Bill Schneider, Curator of Oral History.
  • Financial support was provided by KIYU, Big River Public Broadcasting, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Koyukuk/Nowitna National Wildlife Refuge, and the Louden Tribal Council in Galena.
  • Additional assistance came from: the Johnny Oldman School in Hughes, Alaska; Tamara Bergman's 5th Grade class who wrote Celia Beetus' biography; and Edgar Nollner's son-in-law, Larry Hausmann, who wrote Nollner's biography and provided his photograph.
