Charles "Chuck" Mobley

Charles M. Mobley ("Chuck") holds a Ph.D. in Anthropology with specialization in archaeology, a M.A. in cultural resource management/conservation archaeology, and a B.A. in Anthropology. He is certified by the Register of Professional Archaeologists. Chuck has spent almost 30 years in Alaska teaching, writing, and consulting about Alaska’s history and prehistory. He has taught at the University of Alaska Anchorage and Sheldon Jackson College in Sitka, Alaska, and has conducted many oral history interviews, written over 100 technical reports, 18 articles, and one book. Chuck is the owner of Charles M. Mobley and Associates in Anchorage, Alaska, a company that provides cultural resource services, including archaeological survey, architectural history and evaluation, oral history, archival research, and Native heritage consultation.

Donald Bedford, Part 1	98-13_PT.1	Pioneer Aviators	Donald Bedford was interviewed on January 20, 1998 by Charles "Chuck" Mobley at the Bedford's home in Auke Bay, Alaska. Don's wife, Carol Bedford, was also present during the interview. In this interview, Don talks about his experiences flying, working as a mechanic for companies like Lockheed Martin, Alaska Coastal Airlines, and Alaska Airlines, and his knowledge of different airplane engines.
Donald Bedford, Part 2	98-13_PT.2	Pioneer Aviators	This is a continuation of an interview with Donald Bedford on January 20, 1998 by Charles "Chuck" Mobley at the Bedford's home in Auke Bay, Alaska. Don's wife, Carol Bedford, was also present during the interview. In this second part of a two part interview, Don talks about working as an airplane mechanic, the types of airplanes he worked on and difficult flying conditions they were put under, and airplane crashes. Don also talks about the PBY airplane, working on jet engines, and the merging of airline companies.

Walter McInnes, Side A	2008-20_SIDEA	Seldovia	Walter McInnes was interviewed on August 7, 2008 by Charles Mobley at his home in Seldovia, Alaska. In this first side of a two-sided original tape recording, Walter talks about working on DEW-line construction in Canada, coming to Seldovia, loading freight on and off of ships, and how the community of Seldovia has changed. He talks about how there used to be canneries and how the town has physically changed since the 1964 Alaska Earthquake and the Urban Renwal Program. He also talks about the bars and social life in the early days.
Walter McInnes, Side B	2008-20_SIDEB	Seldovia	This is the continuation of an interview with Walter McInnes on August 7, 2008 by Charles Mobley at his home in Seldovia, Alaska. In this second side of a two-sided original tape recording, Walter talks about changes in Seldovia after the 1964 Alaska Earthquake including flooding and the physical layout of the community. He also talks about logging and the sawmill, working as a bartender, and a number of old-timers.
