Roland Lombard

Dr. Lombard was a veterinarian who was also a famous dog racer in Alaska, even though he lived in Wayland, Massachusetts. He won the Fur Rendezvous World Championship Sled Dog Race in Anchorage eight times in the 1960s and 1970s and was known for bringing innovative ideas about dog care to Alaska.

Roland Lombard	Dr. Roland Lombard was a veterinarian and a racer, who was on the "Meet a Pioneer" radio show on March 15, 1985 with Gayle Maloy for KFAR radio in Fairbanks, Alaska. In this interview, he talks about how he got interested in dog mushing, starting his veterinary career, coming to Alaska to race, methods for making a stronger race dog, his relationship with his dogs and other racers, and the importance of having a good leader.
