Description:
Sign along the Tok cutoff between Glennallen and Tok on the Glenn Highway near Gakona. the sign reads: "The Alaska Road Commission served a multitude of purposes including Road Work for over 50 years - starting in 1905. It's work involved Ferries, Harbors, Canals, Flood Control, Navigational Aids, Trails, Radio, Wireless and Telephone Lines, Cemeteries, Schools, Airfields, Landing Floats and other miscellaneous items. Many and varied were the Duties and Projects of these Pioneers. The thousands of miles of roads which were built in that time under extremely adverse conditions serve as a lasting reminder of the industry of these Pioneers."
