Cutting Antlers with a Saw
Description:
Summer handling of reindeer at Wilfred Kakaruk's corral (circa 1959-early 1960s). The corral was located at Canyon Creek on the other side of the bluff. In those days, they cut antlers with a saw; now sheers are used. In the foreground from left to right are: Jacob Olanna, Winfred Olanna, Norman Menadelook (Roger's brother), and James Okpealuk. Sam A. is in the background in the army jacket and cap. Roger Menadelook is in the background, in the light blue shirt and rubber boots. Henry Olanna is also in the background in the plaid shirt.
