Jim Kennedy's Cabin
Left to Right: Johanna Walatka, Joe Thompson, and Carl Nielsen from Dillingham at Jim Kennedy's cabin, Lake Clark, 1940's. Babe and Mary Alsworth bought the cabin in 1942 from Jim Kennedy, who built it in 1935. Kennedy moved to Tanalian Point, and landed planes on Dry Creek gravel bars. Sophie Austin says her husband Antone Balluta helped Kennedy build the cabin. The Alsworths gave the cabin to Joe Thompson, a miner and a logger, in 1944 when they moved to Hardenberg Bay (now Port Alsworth). According to Mary Hobson (1912-1995), this was the location of Tom Rasmussen's cabin. Rasmussen is a vague figure in local history. He was married to a woman from Nondalton (1920 census) and Tommy Island is supposed to be named after him.
