Egg House Crew
Description:
Kristy Kelly working in the Egg House at the <NN> Cannery in South Naknek, Alaska, 1978. The Egg House is where the salmon roe is processed and prepared for shipment to Japan. The <NN> Cannery’s Egg House, built in 1966, was one of the first in Bristol Bay to process salmon roe. This sparked an increase in female cannery workers at South Naknek. A Japanese inspector can be seen standing in the background overseeing the operation to ensure quality control and proper packaging.
