Description:
Kokhanok reindeer near the mouth of the Gibraltar River west of Kokhanok village. The photograph was taken by Dr. Henry O. Schaleben who was superintendent of the reindeer herd in 1908. All other Bristol Bay herds trace their origin from this herd. In 1907, the Kokhanok herd numbered 561 animals.
