Description:
Heaters are applied to the engines of a commercial DC-3 or C-47 at Point Barrow, Alaska on April 8, 1956. The transport and the U.S. Air Force C-124 Globemaster in the background were used to carry supplies to remote, roadless radar sites that stretched thousands of miles across Northern Canada and Alaska, eventually stretching from the Aleutians to Iceland.
