Receiving Awards
Alaska Native members of the Alaska National Guard receiving awards from Alaska Governor William A. Egan on Saturday, February 19, 1966. Governor Egan presents the Eisenhower trophy for the state's most outstanding National Guard unit to Sergeant George Whitman, of Mekoryuk, representing Company B, 2nd Scout Battalion. Also receiving awards were: 1st Sergeant Theodore Booth of Kotzebue for the outstanding training record set by Company C, 1st Scout Battalion; Sergeant Albert V. Lee of Nome received the Brigadier General John R. Noyes medal as outstanding member of the 1st Scout Battalion; and Private First Class George Neck of Kasigluk received the Noyes medal as outstanding member of the 2nd Scout Battalion. Presentations were made at Fort Richardson near Anchorage, Alaska during the annual Governor's Day review of 1st and 2nd Scout Battalions, 297th Infantry, Alaska National Guard .
