Pollack Simon, Sr. was interviewed in May, 2004 by Eric Mack in Allakaket, Alaska for the Raven's Story radio series on KIYU-AM public radio station in Galena, Alaska. In this interview, Pollack talks about living a traditional subsistence lifestyle based on hunting, trapping and fishing. He discusses learning to live off the land from his grandfather, trapping marten, and hunting moose and wolves. He also talks about his career as a dog musher, changes in dog mushing, trapping and fishing, how life has changed so that living off the land is now more difficult, working as a wildlands firefighter, and the role of politics in wolf management.
