Walter Roman
Tape #H87-74-08

Walter Roman was interviewed at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks on October 13, 1983. He spoke with Jane Williams and other members of a committee researching the Circle City-Fairbanks trail. He lived and worked in the Central area for many years, freighting with both dogs and horses, as well as carrying mail, trapping and gold mining. Many of his travels took him over both the winter and the summer trail. Parts of this route were used in the construction of the Steese Highway, connecting Circle and Fairbanks today. He recalled the people, the places and the times he survived.
